What will hydrogen be used for?

  • Same uses as today but with no CO2 emissions
  • Mass / long-term storage of wind and solar energy, grid balancing
  • Production of e-fuels, synthetic fuels made from H2 and CO2 (e.g. e-methanol…)
  • Ammonia production
  • Production of low-carbon steel
  • Heating of calcination kilns in cement plants
  • Heating and power source for buildings (residential and industrial)
  • Source of power for vehicles that need to:
    • carry heavy loads
    • have several hours of autonomy
    • refuel rapidly
    • have zero emission
